Incredible things your new baby can do... |

|
| One of the joys of motherhood is watching your baby explore his new world, interacting with him and seeing his responses to you change and develop day after day. |
Senses
| As if the fact that how a tiny cell grows into a baby wasn't a miracle enough, it is amazing how someone so small can be programmed to do so many things right from birth!
• Sight : At birth, if your baby's alert and healthy, he'll open his eyes and gaze at you. New babies love human faces, especially eyes. They're also attracted to bright, bold colours and sharp outlines, and any sudden movement may attract their gaze. Your baby can see you (the eye vision is limited to 18 in(20 cms) in the first few weeks). Lock on to his gaze when you hold him.
• Touch: Babies love to be touched gently.hold your baby so you're skin-to-skin
• Hearing: Your baby will enjoy a soothing voice.shake a rattle on one side of your baby's head and he should turn his head to acknowledge it. Other sounds babies love include blenders, hairdryers, vacuum cleaners and washing machines - it's thought that the rhythmic quality of such noises is what's appealing.
• Smell: Your baby can recognize your smell. you may find your baby doesn't feed as well if you wear strong perfume.
• Taste: Babies are aware of different tastes. Breastmilk takes on subtle flavours, depending on your diet. This is probably to prepare your baby for when he eats with the rest of the family.

Reflexes
|
Your baby is born with reflexes, some of which disappear within a few days or weeks.
Startle reflex :If you let the baby's head flop back, he or she will think that they're falling and will stretch out arms and legs.
Sucking reflex : Your baby will suck anything that's placed in his mouth.
Stepping reflex :If you hold a baby upright (your hands under the shoulders) on a flat and firm surface, he or she will perform walking action.
Grasping reflex :A newborn baby'a grasp is so strong that if they grasp your finger, they can support all their body weight on that grip.
